DT and Union join forces

23rd Feb, 2017

Under the deal, Union will adopt the DT brand and begin offering our New Zealand clients a vastly expanded set of digital marketing and technology capabilities.

Brian Vella, DT CEO, explains, “This is a great fit for both agencies, enabling us to provide a market-leading trans-Tasman service offering. DT brings 20 years of IP to the table, with Union and Designworks bringing great local presence and reputation. The 30-strong Union team, led by founders Matt Townsend and Richard Wright, have built an impressive business with quality clients and we are excited about our combined capability.”

DT established their New Zealand office in 2012, complementing their Australian and Singapore operations. More recently DT’s Technical Director Damien Brown relocated from Melbourne to Auckland to take up the DT NZ Managing Director role. This has the added benefit of allowing Matt Townsend and Richard Wright to focus on leading the DT NZ Strategy and Technology Optimisation offerings respectively, where their passions lie.

The combined agency will have full access to DT’s IP, analytics and team of more than 250 digital specialists across their Sydney, Melbourne and Singapore offices.

Designworks Group Chairman and WPP AUNZ’s Country Manager in New Zealand, Sven Baker said, “DT’s vast experience, enterprise expertise and their recently announced AKQA partnership bring a raft of exciting new benefits to clients, staff and partners in New Zealand.

“This move brings together two well-established and successful businesses and provides an ideal opportunity to build on the impressive double-digit growth that Union has achieved since joining WPP AUNZ in 2015.”

This news follows DT’s recently announced partnership with the globally awarded AKQA network.
